Yes I'm still stuck in 1980, but it's all for the good of all my subs!
Trying to get more posted, but just not enough time. Thanks for being so patient!

This was the first show where viewers mailed in votes for "The Favorite Artist" contest.
You can tell how red hot Queen was at that time just by the end result.
Obviously if this were held today, the results would be much different.

*Quick note:What's with the spelling error on "The Bee Gees" name at 00:34 and who is that at 4:27 ?

So there was no mention of what was in the Top 10 that week, for the curious here it was:
# 10 up from # 11 'Dreaming- Cliff Richard
# 9 up from # 10 "Starting Over"- John Lennon
# 8 up from # 9 "More Than I Can Say"- Leo Sayer
# 7 and holding "Master Blaster" - Stevie Wonder
# 6 and holding "Never Knew Love Like This Before"- Stephanie Mills
# 5 and holding "I'm Coming Out" - Diana Ross
# 4 and holding "Another One Bites The Dust"- Queen (former # 1)
# 3 and holding "The Wanderer"- Donna Summer
# 2 and holding "Woman In Love" - Barbara Streisand (former # 1)
# 1 for a second week "Lady"- Kenny Rogers (week 2)

Songs that were going for ads that week that never charted were:
"Explorer Suite" - New England http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyOUEEsLAJM

"You Had To Go And Change On Me"- Leif Garrett
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RIk-6kAfqo

"Don't Tell Me No"- The Cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fz-siSu-gg

"I Wanna Be Sedated"- The Ramones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_wssByW7JQ

"The Girls Can't Stop It"- Bob Welch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGhiQ_TyNrY

"Whiskey Heaven"- Fats Domino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjbz2LF8p_0

"Take Me Down"- Exile (yea i know it was # 102 that week but I thought it was interesting to add it to this list, yes this is the original "Alabama" took it to # 1 country and # 18 pop in 1982)(Almost sounds like "Kiss You All Over") http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JsWPRfJtP0

Until next time..
Thanks for watching!

  • Wow, this aired the day before my 13th birthday. Definitely agree with Xanador1, and I'd much rather be back then than now.

  • 4:27 - sammy davis jr.

  • There are worse years to be stuck in, like 2012 for example.

  • Sad to hear Casey talking about The Beatles "whereabouts", knowing John was still alive but died just 2 weeks later.

Good countdown though, I'm surprised they weren't #1!

  • Thanks. Love this special countdown. 4:27 -> Long hair Mick Jagger in a lady dress ?
