Yep, you can hear it certain spots in the soundtrack of this video, not so much in the response videos, as many seem to have just enjoyed the fun of the motion.
In playing a Hang, if the hand is very close to the tone field it acts as a re-director of the sound so it creates a vibrato when waving back and forth.

Yeah, I know from my own instruments that it definiately changes the sound waves. I just meant that it wasn't coming across on the videos I'd seen and that I thought that was funny. I was really making a joke not leveling a criticism. Sorry if it came off that way. Your hand waving is much more attractive : )

There is definately an audible alteration in the sound as you disturb the vibration waves coming from the metal. Maybe you can hear it better in the flesh. Anyway, the hand waving, makes it more interesting to watch anyway :):)

good times!!!
This is funny because the hand waving does absolutely nothing to change the sound! Perhaps from the players perspective it does, but not from the camera's. Now you've spawned a whole slew of copycat no-reason hand wavers. See what you've done... ; )

if you listen carefully to the soundtrack of this video (maybe with some good headphones) you will notice an effective change in the spreading of the soundwaves -when the hands are interfering with them; it's physics, not opinion...
