Overclock Intel Pentium E6800 To 4.16Ghz

Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E6800 @ 4.16Ghz

CPU Cooler: AC Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2

Ram: 4X2Gb (8GB Now!) DDR2 1066Mhz Kingstone Hyper-X (5-5-5-15)

VGA: Sapphire ATI HD 5770 1Gb DDR5 @ 950Mhz GPU/5260Mhz (NOW) Ram

Gigabyte 420W PSU

No-Name Computer Case

Well here is My Story, First I Had an Intel Pentium Dual Core E6500 2.93 GHz Overcooked to 3.6 GHz.
It WAS Very Stable, And My Temps Where The Same As With This One Max 57c.
I Sold it And Got an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz Over clocked it to 3.2 GHz.
It Was Also Stable, But Could Not Get 3.6 GHz Stable. My Benchmarks Overall Score Increased, But FPS Went Down.
Then I sold it because the Extra 2 Core Did Not Help Me in Playing My Favourite PC Games (Fallout 3/ New Vegas).
Then I Got Myself an Intel Pentium E6700 3.2GHz Over clocked to 3.8 GHz My Temps Where Very High (66c) Max And It Was Not As Stable, Like the Other Cup's I Had. It Was a Terrible CPU!
I Really Wanted To Get 4 GHz! So Then the Intel Pentium E6800 3.33Ghz Came Out
First Day I Got It I Was Able to over clock it to 4.16 GHz Very Easily Even 4.2 GHz No Problem.
(48Hrs of Prime95)
My Temps Are Low and the CPU Is Really Different Than All the Others. (More Stable)
I Don`t Know if All The E6800 Are Like Mine. Maybe I Got Lucky At Least.
Here Is My CPU-Z ID So You Can See the Stepping and More.

  • Oh yes... 4.2GHz with only 1.325v 100% stable - 8 hour on LINX.

    (Abit aw9d FSB:350Mhz)

  • @Subclient18 USE Prime 95 For Testing and Test for 24Hours! When You`r Overclock is Stable Increase The Voltage By 1, Just to make Sure! I Had An Error After 12 Hours. So This is My Personal Experience.

  • @MrRayLeroy

From My personale experience i use Prime95 for 14 Hour without errors - but get one after 2 min with LINX ;)

i dont think prime95 or Orthos are good tools for stability testig...

  • @Subclient18 Yes There Not Great That`s Why Once i Have 48Hours Prime Stable i Add 1 or 2 More on The Voltage Never Had Any Problems.

  • i am thinking now about changing my Q9450 at 2.66 to E6700 at 4.0 because of same problem and one of the cores heats very much according to utilities.

  • @nahmnahmnahm Don`t Get The E6700 Get The E6800 I Had Bad Experience With The E6700.

Also What Games do You Play and What Are You`re Specs?

  • I'd like to say otherwise ...

LINX for quick testing...Prime95 - at least 24h . for sure - need to use both ;)

  • also have a free E8200 i tried to put at 1600 bus and it worked successfully at 3.2ghz, i have these processors in two my other computers (my own at work and in other house) so i might just swap them for the power of silence! :))

  • now q9450 at stock, ddr2-1066 hyper-x at 800 mhz, asus P5Q pro turbo and 3-year Corsair TX650 PSU, with Gainward GTX460 soon be changing to GTX560 or Rad6970 to get more silence

  • @MrRayLeroy Thanks for the help!!! :D
