Here is Arthur Collins, one of the most popular and prolific Recording Artists of the first two decades of the Twentieth Century, singing "The Ragtime Goblin Man"(words by Andrew Sterling and Music by Harry Von Tilzer, and featured on an original 1911 Columbia Record. The Talking Machine is a 1905 Victor Type II .Without a doubt, some of most frightening and scary Lyrics of any Ragtime Song ever written. But great fun !!

  • do you have the blue amberol of this song? if so could you play it on your fireside?

  • @kirtley2010 If you would like to hear that version, it has already been posted here on youtube on another channel, just search The Ragtime Goblin Man--Collins & Harlan, it is here. This conversation already has taken place. See below. You were involved in it.

  • victrolaman if you ever find another copy of this record can i buy it or do a swap

  • @kirtley2010 Sure, but this record is not that common. This is the only copy I have come across in the years I have been collecting. But I will let you know if I find another.

  • I love Arthur Collins, fun stuff indeed! I recently found a copy of him doing "Cleopatra" on 9 inch Emerson, interesting and unexpected. Thank you for sharing this great recording!

  • Yes sir! The Devil's Music allright...I love it (so no hope for me then).

  • @kirtley2010 I have heard the C & H version of this great Ragtime era song, it was done on Edison Blue Amberol, so it is not necessary to send me the link. If anything, if I was looking to buy the C&H version, I would much rather have the original Blue Amberol, which does on occasion surface on ebay.

  • @victrolaman the collins and harlan version is being made by vulcan records, ive heared a sample of it and its not as good as this one but it would still be interesting to have on cylinder do you want me to send you the link to the website??

  • @victrolaman: The UCSB Cylinder Collection online has the Collins and Harlan 4 minute version—look for it there. Harlan sort of just takes the role of Collins' dopey sidekick, dumbly questioning some of the lines in the song.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
