  • I really enjoyed this interview; articulate and full of common sense. It's a refreshing change from a lot of raw food videos on youtube which can be somewhat 'hyper' in style or heavy on the spirituality in whatever form. You have renewed my interest in raw foods. I have been having either a green smoothie or veggie juice for breakfast but the past two days I haven't and I have noticed I am more irritable and cannot focus. Back to more raw foods for me! Many thanks!!

  • That's great, thanks! It really does make ALL the difference!

  • Hi Karen:

I just watched some of your videos and I loved them. I began to feel interested on RAW food just a couple of weeks ago and I am sprouting my first lentils just now. I have a very important question. Is it true that "beans" can not be eaten raw?, Some person who is not a vegetarian or a raw food eater was telling me than "raw beans" are poisionous, and must be cooked.. Is this true? is it true even if they are germinated? Thanks for any info. --- Love your material :)

  • Hi and thanks! All beans are fine when sprouted except kidney beans. You also have to trust your tastebuds on this one! A good book on sprouting is a must-have for every raw foodie young or old so you know how long to sprout each one for and what they should look like. Good luck : ) - PS: I have a clip on sprouting as well.

  • Thank you :)

  • these are great.

simple and easy to listen to.

how could anyone argue with such an everyday, un-fussy conversation!

you are a great face for Raw food, and dispel the image of Raw foodists as being rather weird and obsessing evangelists.

theres no waftiness or 'vegan-stodge' in your common-sense, light hearted messages.

i've already posted it on my facebook profile, to assist those who are concerned and challenged, and think me 'extreme'!

    have a beautiful day :o)

    Aj

  • Thank you AJ, that's so lovely!

  • Karen, you introduced some profound attitudes in this talk. Are you really that much conscious in your everyday activities? Because, as a meditating Buddhist, I tend to look closely how people acting, and I usually find out that they constantly burdened with thoughts instead of enjoying the present; regardless of their ideas that they constructed with mere intelligence. Of course my intention is not to question you; but to tell: if you living like you say, you are giving a precious example. :)

  • great advice!

  • This is not just about raw food - this is about changing a life!

  • Aloha Karen, Wow, terrific video that's informative, inspiring and tremendously helpful. I love that you touch on the high vibrational aspect of raw foods. Mahalo for sharing! ~Aloha No

  • great stuff Karen

  • Your grasp of the finer details on what can be a dizzingly confusing dietary journey is spot in! It's not so much about the meals, but the impact of such foods on you as an individual. It is a WOW moment! When this heightened consciousness occurs you just want to share, you can't help but get excited. I understood the diet intellectually, but now I EXPERIENCE the food, emotionally and physically. It is indeed a life altering event. It would be death, yes death, to return to anything less!

  • Karen,

    Great videos!

Yes...simple meals are best. I focus on mono meals most of the time.

    Keep up the great work!

  • Yes it's not hard. I try to get people to taste almond milk but they fight me until they witness me drinking it.

  • How funny & sad at the same time. I guess I haven't come far enough away from my SAD old diet. Other the fog would have lifted nuf for me to see SAD as (Standard American Diet), which is so apt an acronym, rather than (Seasonally Affected Depression) which SAD'ly doesn't much fit here. I was stuck on my old thinking rather than opening to the new of this moment. While I can feel my sensitivity increasing, from eating raw, it's not quite There yet. But coming...

  • Karen Dear, You caught me. While I've recently turned all raw (except for some cellphone use:-) I'm still up to my old tricks of complicating my meals, smoothies etc. I've rationalized this saying I'm covering my bases, nutritionally. Even giving a nod to The Zone, a book by Barry Sears: 30% fat, hopefully EFA's, & 30% protein forming a 60% block keeping 40% carbs in check. But I believe now this sorta thing dissolves when 100% raw, donchya think, or maybe y'know? The Chinese in TCM call for...

  • 1st, I recently learned (from Paul Stamets) that if you leave--he used dried shiitake as an example--out in the summer sun, with the underside of the cap facing up, then you can store them, eating them over winter, it will pack vitamin D into them & keep it there. Research has more recently surfaced showing vitamin D as more important than previously thought, i bet neutralizing SAD. I'm from western Canada, so know 1sthand. Then since when is "normal" good?
