I have Ubuntu running and I have a Dell desktop and a Dell Windows Vista CD without the original product key! Can someone help! P.S. I got it from someone else because they sold their Dell so I can't get the product key. P.S.S. Will it ask me for it if it is a re-installation CD?

@samikhoury83 You will need to contact Dell and see if they can send you another disk. There may be a fee... I don't really see any other way for you to solve the issue.

@enfotoad I've tried each option and the disc doesn't boot

@amcheung10 Then it looks like your system might have a different process from the Dell I am using. You will probably have to change the boot order in the BIOS so that the CD is the first choice to boot from. Look online for a guided tutorial on how to change the boot order for your Dell or contact Dell and they should be able to help you with the process.

i reformat my husband's dell laptop after all the procedure done when th windows xp diplayed i checked the network connections the LAN does not appear what will i do?

@rosspaz1999 You will need your network card's driver. Luckily Dell stores all your drivers online on their support and driver website. Once your at that site select your machine's information. Then you should a list of computer parts and other stuff. Find something with a title of Networking, Lan, (something along those lines). Then download the newest driver(s) and install then restart and see if it works.
