Watching BBC breakfast. A little boy with downs syndrome denied Holy Communion because of his disability. He found the whole experience of TV great. He stuck his fingers up at the camera, attempted to moon, smiled and waved. Great to see him enjoy the experience. I would like to think the fingers and attempt at mooning were aimed at the Catholic Church for their treatment of him!

  • @paulchartley no one is saying he can't be catholic - they're saying he is not yet able to fully engage in the preparations. you don't just eat the bread & drink the wine, you have to learn all about it. and he can't even sit through this interview. i think waiting until he is able to understand is appropriate regardless of age.

  • The Catholic Church's stance is that if an individual can not comprehend for whatever reason the True Presence they should not be given communion. That may be due to age, disability, or circumstances in which they were raised. They must also understand right from wrong and must go to confession. Until the time in which they have been taught and understand what the Eucharist really is and can confess their sins they will be denied communion.

  • Wo to those that bar these little ones from me-Jesus. Shame on them!

  • @Projectinsighter Are you saying her child is "bad" fruit because he has a disability? Seriously? Why, then, did Christ heal the man who was blind? Why would he do something so incredible for "bad fruit"? Seems to me he pointed out the evil within the church of the time - the self-righteous and the hypocrites - not those who were different.

  • he's one of god's little boners.

  • The Catholic Church does so much good with Down's Syndrome, so one priest's mistake should not become a big deal.

  • Aw he's so cute! Shame on Catholic Church!

  • these people are sevants of satan..nobody even Church members if they do not flly believe or understand and in most cases Go through the steps you need are allowed to do communion..Plus..The Bible says ..Good tree's produce good fruit, bad will produce bad..seeing her child says it all..

  • My friend told me about this, this morning. Brilliant. He's a right cutey, looks like butter wouldn't melt then out comes the bird, love it. You can see he was well up for a moon too! Good luck to his mum, typical lad!!!!
