What ever became of Wayne Newton's brother, Jerry?
One night, the two got into a fist fight (which Jerry reportedly won) and the next day he was thrown out of the band and disowned by the Newton family. After which Jerry seemed to walk off the face of the earth.

According to Newton's book Jerry did just that, they didn't talk until J got mixed up in an S&L scandel, which W came to his aid but J got jail time. Guess he's a felon somewhere. Too bad...in the book W talks about how bad it is when things like this takes a toll on a family. But he defends J throughout. And their record "Live At The Fronier" is awsome!!!!

I read that Wayne got his black belt in karate so he could eventually whip Jerry when they fought. Jerry came to my hometown of Tullahoma, Tennessee and bought the old WJIG radio station, razed the building and built WBGY. He got involved with all kinds of business in the small town and eventually bought a local bank. I went to his house (Lynchburg) to install a stereo in his den -there was a huge portrait of The Duke and a silver saddle that looked to be from the Mesquiteers. Cool.

Me and A group of guys from Kansas would go out to Vegas in the spring for 4 days of Casino and Golfing. Jerry has a bus he drives out there and would take us to the golf course and pick us up later that day. I haven't been on that trip for 2 years now. Jerry seemed like a great guy ! Talked very little about Wayne, we always had fun with him. He looks to me like he is doing WELL!

From what I heard, at first Jerry would comically insult Wayne on the stage. Later on, however, Jerry's putdowns became more abrasive and Wayne became upset. From Wayne's point of view, he said he told Jerry don't ever insult him like that again. The fight got ugly and Jerry left the band, either by Wayne firing him or by his own choice.
