Totally un-emotional! Shame on you, Thomas Hampson for ignoring such an attractive Zerlina.

@ClassicalRelated its a duett by the way..not an aria..but still, i agree

If you had seen Cecelia Bartolli singing with Bryn Terfel at the "98" Richard Tucker Gala, posted earlier, and it seems, withdrawn, you would understand the reactions of the viewers about Thomas Hamson's "wooden stance", in this concert versus her vivacity. She sparkles and emotes, even in a non- operatic setting.....she sings from the heart - Glorious.

@kneelandpray1 Your point being? The part was written for a baritone/bass after all :/
-
La Bartoli è Odiosa.
Canta in modo terribilmente artificiale.
La figura di Zerlina è rivestita da un'ingeniutà quasi infantile che Cecilia violenta in modo insopportabile.

Hampson is a Baritone no Tenor.....
-
@amatorynumber Hmmm ... really?
-
I wonder what happened here? Hampson isn't always this wooden.
-
@elizakolo I don't think he likes women and I have heard she doesn't really like men so... I guess it's just the singing :)

Thank you Tom,
I don't get many reactions from Denmark, but I agree with you. This is one of the most beautiful versions of this aria I myself have ever heard.

P.S. I just remembered, originally Renée Fleming was to perform with Thomas Hampson, and because she fell ill, Cecilia Bartoli was flown in as a last-minute replacement.
