man muss sagen das Jürgen den Ball so schön mit der Nase mitgenommen hat das die Abwehrspieler überhaupt nicht reagieren konnten und Maier konnte man dann auch keinen Vorwurf machen finde ich

None of the teams wanted to win this match, because they knew the winner was going to play against Brazil. A shame to the History of Football. West Germany propositally lost to not face Brazil.

I don't understand... why were the east germans so happy??? I mean they scored against their own fellow countrymen... how did the west german fans in the stadium take the goal? did they boo ???

Just remember that this is an East German newsreel and they were bound to use propaganda as a way to boost the Cold War rivalry. This is why you saw the people "cheering" for East Germany.

The people who cheering for eastgermany are from the Stasi.
The normal german people in the east, was  more support the west-german team.

Merkt man nicht viel von.
Bedenke mal nur die Solidaritätssteuer oder der krasse aufbau vom Osten, im Westen gehts unter.
Alle Ossis schwöhren auf die DDR.
Nur komisch das früher alle raus wollten.
