Like thousands of other inauguration attendees, we were cursed with purple tickets and herded into the 3rd Street Tunnel under the National Mall. We spent more than five hours inching forward before we finally learned that that our inauguration tickets were not worth the paper they were printed on.
Although we probably overestimated the crowd numbers in the video, there is no doubt that thousands who expected to have their tickets honored were turned away. Throughout the morning, we had no communication from volunteers, police or event organizers that there were problems at the gate. It would have been nice if someone had informed us that we should probably head to the mall if we planned on watching the ceremony... This never happened and we missed our chance to see history in the making.
This was a colossal failure by the Inaugural Committee and the Capital/DC Metro Police. (Heck of a job, Brownie.)
im sorry you all were in that situation, however im so proud the way you all came together and made the best out of the situation!
