Barrel is 4 7/16" 4140 steel and cross shaft is 2 1/8" 4140 steel, base is 1/2 steel plate, supports are 2x4" and 2x6" steel bar. Not finished yet, just testing the design. Actual powder chamber is about 1 1/4" x 2". Bore is 1.75, projectile is golf ball, patch is blue shop towel x2 (perfect fit). In this shot there is so much powder that the barrel is about half full, some of the blue shop towel was actually sticking out the end of the barrel. Total weight so far about 90 pounds.

  • After further review, I would actually guess that the amount of pyrodex in this shot was over 2000 - 2400 grains, or about 3 ounces. Considering we would pour powder into the barrel and then pack it down several times, milling it/making it finer each time, while adding more powder.

  • golf ball went clear through a 1x6 board and we never seen it after that.
