Well, after a while, they started to catch on, so I had to stop, but yeah, I enjoyed many a game of Mr. Do's Castle thanks to that. I never quite excelled at it back then, but I got good enough to clear a level.

Not only that, but there are no cherry blocks in the version you're speaking of, which means you only have 3 ways to clear the stages instead of 4. Nonetheless, this always was my favorite game in the series.

I absolutely love this game! I remember being given quarters to pay for my milk at school and keeping them when it came to get lunch - the cashier collected the money at the start of the day and they never asked if you paid for milk as you went through the lunch line when you got milk. Once I arrived at my mom's work after school, I popped the quarter in the game and went to town!

I always go for the keys, myself. Spelling "EXTRA", of course, grants you an extra life. But you still get a good deal of points for hitting each letter.

In Japan, this game is actually entitled "Mr. Do! vs. Unicorns". Probably because that's what he's clearing his castle of -- unicorns (which mutate into more dangerous creatures if you take too much time in one stage).
