@yoshmog If you still have him make sure he knows many young - old people are moved by his bands works, ask him about what inspired their music. You probably have already done this seeing as you realize how 'popular' they are

You have to understand that this is American black metal with pagan/folk elements.
The spiritual/nature quality is essential to their sound and is why--unlike a lot of other bands--so many people feel connected to Agalloch's music.
