Everett said that evangelists insist that in order to "save" a soul, it must first must be lost. Most vulnerable people to this approach are those who've been traumatized. David Livingston, who travelled as a missionary to Africa, said that the first step in evangelizing is to destroy the local culture. Destroy it through capitalism, because once they see Western goods, they'll realize how worthless they are, and they will listen to the local missionary about his god. The Church Growth movement is also
Not surprising that someone who is down and out on their luck finds that someone who comes along who's rich and powerful inspires that luckless person to aspire to what the other recommends. Everett began to feel more and more like he didn't fit, like he was irrelevant, and worse, he had a feeling of profanity, that he was destroying something beautiful by telling them that he had access to truth that they needed, when clearly he didn't.
Over the years, these claims of the tribe's language having no numbers, no quantifiers, no colors, were exciting to other researchers, and he'd take visitors to the Amazon to see for themselves. They'd think that the Pirahã seemed like the "happiest people in the world." Psychologists decided to try to test this by measuring how often they smiled and laughed, and it was indeed remarkable how happy they were. The documentary film crew said that when they were filming the Pirahã people, the majority seemed to be just lying around on the beach. They didn't seem to sense a whole lot of angst....
If you don't believe in a most of the goods that the West has, your culture cannot be destroyed. I would like to hear him speak on their views of western medicine, their health, and so forth.

If you don't believe in a "soul" then there is nothing to be "saved". I would suggest these people are primitive anarcho-capitalists. Certainly they are not living a living a primitive communism, since property in Bows, machetes, huts and nuts and even sex is traded amongst each other and with the outside.

I think Christianity has used the best of the West, Science and Free Trade, to sell its viral message.

Christianity is a feudal ideological manipulation to keep the majority in servitude and bondage in the interest of the ruling ellite, as D.Everet confirms Capitalism destroys the organic relationship of the natives with their natural surroundings/cultural values and create desires for western goods to make them feel worthless. Capitalism has desrtoyed and dehumanised since its emergence and continues to do so , We need to reclaim our Earth and ourselves for world of Harmony .
