snow mobiles and any cars sold as "cvt" have those. It is basically just a belt with a pulley thats cut in half with an actuator. It squeezes the belt toward the outside for a higher gear and lets it slide inside for a lower gear.

continuously variable transmission is a belt drive that acts like an automatic transmission. it upshifts and downshifts on its own. no shift shock.

the one on my go-kart goes from 2.6:1 to .9:1 in ratios.
