  • Here is the problem that I have. That machine cost $60,000 new. A computer running protools cost around $2,000 new. The Otari was made to live and breath music. The computer was made to post pictures, surf the net, and watch porn. Whats wrong with this picture?

  • The way music should be recorded! Enough with the digital garbage!

  • @oooowwwwdddd I would guess it is about 30 years old. Those square lights are VU meters, which are used for monitoring how loud the sound is on each track. If those people made music before the mid 80's, it is almost certain that their music was recorded on a reel to reel deck.

  • WOW!!! How old is that thing? What are all the square lights on the front of it for??? Did they record like Benny Goodman and Gloria Gaynor on one of those. My grandparents have those CD's lol...

  • 2 inch machine these days are cheaper (2k up to 8k $) then modest DAW and computer + audio interfaces and top notch analog to digital converters.

    over 15 k $.

but keep in mind that u need good console because you cant mix without it while working analog with 2 inch r2r.

  • what album were you working on? it sounds really good!

  • analog rule!!!!

  • @ezra4no1 digital is artificial and it sucks. analog forever!!

  • Oh gosh.. I am so glad that the world, and technology has moved away from 8 track cassette, LP records, cassette tapes, minidiscs, and that old outdated piece in that video. My gosh.. I have been recording for years.. and I couldn't wait for digital technology to move any faster from a pre- and post production point of view.

  • just got mine, its in one of my videos if you have a squiz. UNBELIEVABLE machine. long live analog!

  • my uncle has a 16 channel one that stands up right

  • Bring back analog!
