An ascent of Ditchling Beacon on the Friday Night Ride to the Coast, March 2009.

The creaking is from one of my shoes, not my knees. I arrived at the top just before sunrise - not that you can tell.

  • Is a great climb! Have you done Firle Beacon? Is a bit harder but is a dead end so is a lot less busy and is a better quality surface which helps! Used to do my hill reps up it.

  • @blakey063 Yeah i got up to around 7:53 then gave up last year, I thought I was the end. Should of known better really, I only live around the corner! More practice for this year I think.

  • At 5:00 you shouldn't have let the car pass and squeeze in like that. I KNOW that it is difficult to pull the concentration level up but I always give it that little bit for the safety of my group.

FYI I suppose. Oh and GREAT video !

  • An incredible rider. That hill is steep. Congratulations dude.

  • Takes me about 15mins to get up it. This video just doesn't show how steep it is! You think its all over at 6m 53s, that is until you turn the corner!!

  • He was dangerous because he shouldn't have been overtaking on a blind bend in the first place.

  • This hill's a killer! I'd heard about it but never tried it until Tuesday. You must have flown up there! It took me exactly 10 mins (on an old-ish mountain bike) to get to the top from where the hill proper begins (about 2:33) and I was going for it!

    Nice one.

  • What's dangerous about that? Considering that he had to suddenly get into the gap there was a lot of space.

You should come over to the continent and see how people drive here. You'd probably give up cycling. When in the UK I always enjoyed the ample space drivers would leave me.
