People in Japan do not respect Akiyama because he cheated when he fought Sakuraba. Sakuraba is considered almost a god in Japan and when he lost to Akiyama complained that he had any oil product in the body. Akiyama himself later acknowledged that trap, which is why Japan is not wanted.
