super weird when the chinese royals speak english language.
-
my favorite scene too :)
-
Yes I was sad for John and Joan too, but America is still false freedom for people of color in the west.
-
This was a great movie but this scene was sad along with when he was a teenager and couldn't go to his mothers funeral, when he was kicked out of the Forbidden CIty, and when his drug ridden wife returns at the end of WWII.
-
@nni9310 It might be as you have the theatric version and this was from the extended directors cut version.
-
It's my favourite scene too. Its again and again great to see this movie.
-

They say he was homosexual

The last emperor finally confessed he was a Chinese and repented what he had done in Manchukuo a puppet of Japan.
Not like French and Russian revolutions, lives of the Qing emperor and his nobles were spared.
-
Beijing (old name is peking)
-
Where is PuYi's birthplace in China? I'm somehow never able to find any information about it online.
-
One of Hollywoods greatest films. Unsurpassed in splendor, costume and pageantry to this very day. And the music.....the music !
-
Someone uploaded the movie now!!!! :-) i loved the movie but i watched 10 times.

Great film, you'd never know it was made in 1987.
However, PuYi was nothing like the driven, calculating, man portrayed in the film. If you read the book The Last Emperor by Albert Brachman, you'll see he was just a puppet all his life, and the only real power he ever had was the power to have his eunuchs flogged for his personal pleasure.
His marriage to (Elizabeth) Wan Jun was never consummated, which is a real bummer, because she was FUCKING HOT in the photos.
please upload the movie :-)

Why is Philip Glass tagged for this? The music is Ryuichi Sakamoto... Glass had nothing to do with this score. What a film, what a score!
