Aleksandr Isaevich Solzhenitsyn needs no introduction from me, nor is there is much to add concerning this great citizen of the world. Vechnaya Pamyat, rab bozhii Aleksandr. Memory Eternal, Servant of God Aleksandr.

The music is a contemporary setting of the Great Doxology from the Vigil Service by Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev. The version I have did not identify the choir or director, I assume it is the Chorus of the Tretyakov Gallery, which gave the world première performance in 2007.

Wouldn't it be nice if Solzhenitsyn's books were required reading in high schools and colleges, then young people would know WHY communism is bad, instead of being enamored of it. He is the greatest man Russia ever produced. He lived through the hell of communism, like millions of others, but managed to document it for the world to see. For that we will be truly grateful. Rest in peace, sir.

I can understand why you said it; Solzhenisyn is one of the bravest souls in the 20th century. However, his book is too harsh for high school students; even for college students.
