God help the folks who claim to hate the Catholic Church to buy a Catholic Bible and a Catholic Catechism, and come to know and believe, that the Catholic Church IS the Church Jesus, founded on the ROCK of Peter, and the Cornerstone - JESUS! Jesus said to Saint Peter: "You are Peter, and Upon this Rock, I will build My Church, and the Gates of Hell will not prevail, against it." Look up where, that is, in the Catholic Bible and even your Messed up Protestant Bible. Catholic's wrote the 1st Bible

Of course, until then, I will continue to believe and proclaim: To even SUGGEST that Jesus Christ, the Saviour and Redeemer, consumed alcohol is blasphemous and ignorantly sinful.
-
"the juice, fermented or UNFERMENTED, of various other fruits or plants, used as a beverage, sauce, etc.: gooseberry wine; currant wine."
Well, look at that, even the dictionary says you can use the word for both fermented and plain juice.
So, even in todays english you can use it for both. Therefor, you have no proof. Until you can show me IN SCRIPTURE (Not in other catholic writings) they drunk alcohol (LITERALLY) you will continue to have no proof.
-
I dont really care what you say or believe, Jesus was no drunkard, neither would He encourage it. You say that they consumed alcohol in moderation?
Guy, there is hardly such a thing. For most people who drink it, they drink too much and become drunk anyway.
I gave you a scripture ages ago saying alcohol shouldn't even touch your lips, yet you defend it still.
The only proof you have that they drunk alcohol is the word "Wine". Well, what does the dictionary say?
-
If what you say is indeed true, then the Bible contradicts itself, since God abhors alcohol consumption.
Just because todays english Bible's say "Wine" doesn't mean its alcohol. You forget, the english Bible's use old english, as old as the middle ages. Wine to them didn't mean what it is today. That's the mistake everyone seems to make these days.
It was common in Jesus's day to consume freshly pressed grape juice as their primary drink of choice.
-
Right, something thats natural (grape juice) is sacrilege, while something rotten (alcoholic beverages) is totally fine.
That makes no sense at all.
However, despite whatever I tell you, you're still going to believe that bogus idea. Because, I find most people (not just Catholics) are very stubborn, ignorant, hard headed, unwilling to learn truth.
Most people want to continue getting lied to and brainwashed, or being told the same thing thousands of times. That's pretty sad.

OAMission: You have not given the reference for your quotation.
The Catholic Church teaches that Church and State are NOT separated.
'Tortures' and wars were the norm of the state and society of that time.
There can no peace in the world without Jesus. All politicial systems need to accept Jesus as interpreted by the Catholic Church. All peoples need to accept the Gospel according to one Church.
The Bible indicates that outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation (Jn.3:5 etc)
-
JudgeEden:The Bible only Christian communities say that they accept the Bible literally.
Then why do they not accept John 6 literally?
John 6 says for eternal life one has to eat the body and blood of Our Lord.
His disciples could not accept this teaching, the Bible tells us, and so they left.
'Catholic-Bible only' communities- why do you not accept that the Holy Eucharist is the real PRESENCE of Jesus in his BODY AND BLOOD?
Please read John 6 again and carefully.
he's so happy and adorable. and he has such wonderful and strong messages. the pope does rule.
