Here is video from Saturday, April 19, 2008, where Sen. John McCain in remarks to reporters blasted Barack Obama for not repudiating Jimmy Carter's meeting with Hamas and for Obama's refusal to apologize for his "bitter" remarks concerning middle America -- remarks McCain described as evidence of Obama's "out of touch elitism."

  • Go ahead and defend Obama and Jimmy Carter - this is a big losing issue for Obama. His ties to domestic terrorist William Ayers, and his "soft on Hamas" approach do not present him to Americans as a viable Commander-in-Chief. Check the tax returns - Obama is far wealthier than McCain, and McCain donated ALL the proceeds from his books to charity. Obama is elitist - not because of his money - but because of his left-wing values which are out of touch with the American people.

  • McCain Should of won!

He is tough and that was what America needed.

The ONLY reason Obama won was cause American still feels guilty of their past.

  • Does McCain apologize for his anger management issues on tv or is he a hypocrite this is a question not just a statement he may of said sorry each time but i have yet to see it.

  • Obama was not trying to imply that at all. The bitter part was the part in his speech about the pain of there loss of jobs and failure by the government to improve there economic situation.

  • the thing is, obama is religious too, so is he bitter? no. you can't assume religious people are bitter just because they go to church, especially when you go to church yourself. so what, is he going to church for a better reason than everyone else? that's where the "elitist comments" come in.

  • That's completely taken out of context. He did not mean it that way. If you listen to the full speech he was taking about was the frustrations with the government. How people are trying to escape there frustrations by blaming there problems on others and turning to things like religion because they have lost hope in everything else.

  • he said his COMMENTS were elitist, as did hillary clinton, they both said it.

and if somebody said "these people are bitter so they cling to their guns and religion", that can be taken as looking down on people. and that's the comment mccain and hillary were talking about.

  • Notice the statement I was commenting on: "far wealthier than McCain"

Also, as far as calling Obama an "Elitist", that is just completely ridiculous. He is not a aristocratic nor does he look down on others.

  • he said his remarks were elitist, nothing to do with his wealth.

  • he said his remarks were elitist (which he was asked if they were). he never said he was elitist because of his wealth.

  • You know it's getting to be a pretty weird world when a guy who can't remember how many houses he has is calling a black man in America an "elitist."
