The landmark cooling towers at Chapelcross nuclear power station have been demolished by a controlled explosion.The four 300ft stacks were brought down on May 20th 2007 at 9am GMT.Their demolition is part of the decommissioning process at the plant, near Eastriggs in Dumfriesshire, which has dominated the skyline since 1959.
The towers were brought down in 10 seconds, generating an estimated 25,000 tonnes of rubble.
