  • I love this song, but if you listen to the lyrics carefully (and also cheat by reading the podcast description) I don't think it's really about a romantic relationship, I think it's supposed to be about the death of a loved one--which makes more sense with the metaphor of the loved one trying to smuggle the essence of the singer's affection into the afterlife. It could work as either, but I think that was the original intent. Either way, nice video.

  • I belieive you are correct Brad. Have you seen the video someone made about their pet hedgehog that had died that used this song as the backing music? It is very nice.

  • I dont know what Camo4x4s problem is but this is a love song... of coarse the vid is going to be girly geez. By the way Ruth Logie good job on the vid.

  • I agree, Ruth did a excellent job on this video.

  • @BradOFarrell Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen an interview with JoCo where he says that the song was about watching your children grow up and leave. But honestly, it works in so many situations that I can definitely see where you're coming from, too.

  • Truly sorry to reply to a post you made a year ago, but I just want to say that it probably isn't intended to specifically be either. Actually listening to the lyrics I would personally lean towards romantic relationship ("tearing off...buys me," sounds more romantic to me because you can't buy time when it comes to someone dying), but I think he was careful to not tip it too far in either direction, and thus make the song open to personal interpretaion. Just my thoughts, anyway.

  • Do all males in The Movies look they have manboobs when their shirts are off?

  • Listen to the lyrics and think if it doesn't remind you of Simon and Garfunkel's "Cecilia"... except with a sensibility for our ability to download and carry music with us on our iPods and what-not. "Fold my heart up small (compress my songs into mp3s) Or, break it into pieces (fragment my files on your hard drive)... Find somewhere and keep it there. Take it when you go. (this part is self explanatory)" It speaks to the transient nature of musical fame in an age of pod-wise listeners.

  • Yup, it's in my favorites.
