This is the Analog Shutoff of WGTV Channel 8 in Atlanta, they decided to shut off at the first shutoff date of Feb. 17, 2009. The Audio is cut off durning the last few minutes because of the Ray Charles song playing, Youtube would not let up upload this with that audio intact, sorry.

  • Regretfully breaking my earlier "Fini." My original very mild peeve (not a true grievance), is that GPTV no longer uses the song during broadcasts (due simply to the sign-off no longer being a feature of programming). It has no relation whatsoever to copyrights and/or YouTube protecting artistic property; not to mention the prodigious legacy of Ray Charles. I've no issue at all with YouTube exercising due diligence in this case; nor do I need a primer or advisory to that effect. Adieu.

  • @HouseofBurgessesLR Then listen to your legal copies. You - the exception - does not justify making Ray's work accessible to the millions of freeloaders on this website. If you legally own a license to the song, you already have a copy to listen to. If not, you don't get to listen to it. YouTube protecting Ray's work does not in any way violate your rights or make things more difficult for you. You have no legitimate grievance here.

  • @HouseofBurgessesLR GPB doesn't own the song. You aren't a donor to the person who legally owns the rights to the song. GPB purchased a license to put it in their video, and that license allows you to listen to it when it is being broadcast by the channel - not to listen to or otherwise utilize the song without paying for it whenever you please. If you want to hear it, go buy it from iTunes and disprove my assertion that you're a freeloader.

  • @HouseofBurgessesLR The only people threatening it are freeloaders like you who feel entitled to listen to it for free.

  • @bluorangefyre States don't own the songs that are their "state songs". Please utilize some logic.

  • @newstarcadefan You'd think the state of GA would step in and say something, since its one of the official state songs. But I guess not.

  • A very classy way. As for the audio...it isn't your fault....you got WMG to thank for that one.

  • Wow, what a classy way to go out on analog. Only in the south could come such a gentle farewell. It's not all that hard for me to imagine Ray Charles singing "Georgia On My Mind" during the farewell video. His rendition pretty much made it the official state song.

  • Apologies accepted. There were earlier attempts to post this video, but the copyright issues with the song forced the removal of the audio from THE ENTIRE CLIP, leaving the viewer with a muted announcer at the beginning.

Hopefully this time, with the infringing track gone in advance, the announcement will be left intact.
