I love this tune - Carlos plays it as well as anyone. Anyone here read the recent interview with John McLaughlin, where he said that Miles got him to play this tune this way by asking him to play it as if he was learning to play guitar - slow it down. Carlos captures it perfectly.

This song makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Carlos and the band bring that same love with it... great stuff!!! Thanks Carlos... Love is Real... Not Fade Away.

This version, how distorted the sound is,is the Love is the Fare Theee Well to and for Joe Zawinul...If you knew Joe,he would had laughed and said...Man,your guitar is,and your band is copperheaded.

If you listen to the live version of "Whipping Post", by The Allman Brothers from live at the Fillmore East, when they slow down the tempo in the middle of the jam, it sound like they're trying to emulate In A Silent Way by Miles Davis.
Santana does a live version of In a Silent Way with a slightly different arrangement on the soundtrack to Fillmore: The Last Days (1972), a double-CD set taken from recordings made during closing week at Bill Graham's Fillmore West. Those who appreciate this sound over Santana's recent collaborative albums might also like Caravanserai (1972). The sound influenced by Miles and 'Trane hinted at possibilities never realized.
Moody, atmospheric, and haunting--perfect.

yeah, I had heard that song before and it's more like a Jam. This is a tribute to a dearly departed friend. Good information for the occasional listener though!!!

Maybe Carlos still knows who he really is deep down when it really matters. And he's from the same brotherhood as Joe.

I think he's probably just waiting for the right moment to give us all his hymns of peace; the ones that we have come to love forever.
