Smart phones have the ability to hold a lot more personal data than traditional cell phones. So using the security screen lock makes more sense than ever. Thanks to Google Android and the awesome LG Optimus V Virgin Mobile smart phone, we have the option for a very slick lock / unlock screen feature.

I originally used the 4 digit pin number, but after a few login attempts it became very annoying. So I remembered this phone had the pattern screen lock option.

Lets try it.
Press the physical Menu button on the bottom left. Settings - Location & Security - Set Up Screen Lock - Pattern - If it is your first time, the phone will show you a short tutorial - Draw unlock pattern- continue - Draw pattern again to confirm - Confirm - and you're done. Next time you turn on your screen, it will come up with the pattern dots.

Notice you can still dial 911 by tapping the emergency button for the dial pad. It will not allow you to dial regular phone numbers.

If your phone rings, you can accept calls without unlocking. If you need to access to your phone, you have the option to unlock the phone during the call. Forgot the password can u help on how to unlocked it

@Bionic005 - i forgot password before. I had a google account like gmail connected to phone before I set up password Once I got the password or pattern incorrect three times in a row, it comes up with a "forgot password" icon on screen, click that, sign in to your google account and follow instructions to get your password in email. If you didn't have google account connected before hand, I'm not sure what to do, maybe call your phone carrier support from another phone.

So, How can you keep from pocket-dialing 911, while in locked mode( of course, without rooting)?

@baracuda68 - For it to dial 911, you have to first click the emergency icon, then on the dial pad dial click 9, 1, 1, then click the send button. I doubt you will accidentally hit all 5 inputs in the correct sequence to actually dial 911 by accident. Probably better chance to win the lottery lol.

@brikiba1 - if phone is set up with you gmail account or similar, you just type in your email username and password, I had to do that when i forgot my pattern and it worked.

i have a pin for mine but i forgot it, there isnt a forgot passcode option and when i try to reset it it taked it to a screen that my friend said it isnt spose to happen..what do ido??

@INTERNATIONALvids -Yea, I set it up and tried it , and you are right...But I have had a friend had it happen a few times on his Android, though I don't think it's an Optimus...
