First off, THANK YOU SONY for allowing me to use the theme from "Perry Mason".
MU is a short play written by Frank Bari that I directed and did the production design for back in May of 2007.
This is a funny play about a young man who has been accused of a crime but not told what the crime was. I had a really difficult time directing this piece. Mr. Bari was difficult to deal with at best.
I wanted to portray a courtroom that conveyed innocence, which is why I chose the color pink for the furniture and shirts. I took the cow print and overalls from a line in the play where the accused is charged with being a cow.
I loved working with this cast. James Anderson has great instinct when it comes to comedy. Tony Rakes does not hold anything back and is willing to take risks. Kathy is an old friend who play my mother in the first play that I acted in back in good old 1986. And David is a dear family friend whom I met back in 1994 on a trip to see a touring broadway musical in San Francisco. His father was Irving Cohn, who co-wrote the classic Tin Pan Alley song "Yes, We Have No Bananas".
As for me, I am currently a student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. My short film, which is on YouTube (Fairy Cakes) now resides in the UCLA Film and Television Archives Gay and Lesbian Collection.
I served for 6 years as the lead mental health advocate in Mendocino County, California, and was recognized at the state level for my hard work and dedication. I was once homeless and have overcome a lot of diversity in my fairly young life. I am planning on working in a film archive after I get my BFA and teaching at the University level.
