anyone who has played with a high pressure water hose (or air hose without the cut off valve) knows that the end of the hose would whip them around into the walls, not give them vertical lift

@VERGIS92 You would have more thrust pushing off of the ground though, and once you got so far into the air I don't think just the water pushing against just air would give you enough thrust to keep flying up like that. There is a company that sells a water powered jetpack and it has a max height it can reach before you can't go any higher.

@hzuiel no, it's to do with newton's action-reaction law, the same way that rockets can travel in empty space (even though there's no 'wall' to push against)

@VERGIS92 It would be enough to lift you off I think, but once you got about 10-15 feet off the ground i'm pretty sure you'd just come back down.
