R.I.P Sunline <3
We will miss you girl!

Wonderful post, thanks heaps, ordinary field but boy, what a horse!
-
Yep, your right, twice it was. She was undefeated at 1400m. She only missed a place once in her last 28 races and she raced in the best class, her only defeat in that time was her last race start.

Twice? All Aged (by El Mirada) and Feehan (by her nemesis Northerly)???

great horse! one of the greatest kiwi horses ever if i do say sp my self. my grandfathers cousin is trevor mckee, the trainer and part owner of sunline so i feel quite proud to be(in a small way) connected to this great horse.

Our Maizcay was a brilliant 3 yr, but he went downhill after he failed badly in the Cox Plt the same season. He wasnt the same when he came back in the Autumn. He had alot of racing as a 2 and 3 yr old. He did blitz them in his 3 yr spring season.

sunline was my fav. loved watching a champion horse race and win. do you have any footage of another kiwi horse named our maizcay? that horse had devastating turn of foot like sun till he broke down in a race.

She had a flawless record at the mile at wfa, i think from memory she was only beaten once at distance at wfa?

IMO opinion this was Sunlines best win. While most would say her first Cox Plate win was the best the track was a wet front runners paradise which took Tie The Knot out of contention.
On this day the track was firm and she didn't get to bowl along in front. When she let down she exploded and while the field wasn't great she ran exceptional time.
Yes it was a great race but it's not on the system.
