Clinging to a 12-11 lead with just under six minutes remaining in its Thanksgiving match-up with Waltham, freshman Brockton quarterback Austin Auggie Roberts earned the confidence of his teammates with one crucial play.
Facing a third-and-six from their own 33, the freshman signal caller ran a bootleg on a run-throw option for a 10-yard gain to keep the drive alive. With that one play, Roberts did more than keep alive a drive which went 13 plays for 71 yards before culminating in a game-ending 4-yard touchdown run by junior Albert Louis-Jean.
Roberts, who was 9-of-16 for 148 yards passing and added 25 yards on five carries in leading the Boxers to an 18-11 victory in his first start, kept alive the Boxers Super Bowl championship hopes.
