  • How is your 2011 year going so far? I have 60 trees tapped and the weather is bad here in east central MN so I have only made a half gallon so far very upsetting but hope it will pick up I wanted anywhere from 10 -15 gallons this year. good luck..

  • @senfats Hey there! You know we too are off a bit this year...again. Sap did run good today. Making Fancy today. But we haven't been getting the runs we like to see. We've had a lot of cold weather. It will probably go warm on us and the trees will shut right down and that will be it. Maybe it will help the bulk prices?

  • Hug your trees and your kids, Good one! Thanks, very educational. Kind of like we cook cane for syrup

  • @oldtimeway1 Glad to hear from you. I like your "handle". The old time ways ARE the best!

  • a REAL Wood-Fired operation !! The only way to go! Love to see a great "Fruit of the Earth" still processed simply.

  • @MrMiner49r /thanks for your comment. Just finishing up the 2010 season here. We had a lot of warm weather so our production was off this year. But had some fun and made some nice syrup in spite of it. Already looking forward to next year! Glad to hear from you. Take care. Justin

  • it is almost that time again!! Looking forward to a good year I will be tapping 200 trees this year!!!

  • @omyajt We ended up getting very little sap this year out of 86 taps we got 150 gallons of sap. I made just over 3 gallons of syrup. I wanted to make 12 gallons min. but never got more than a 1/3 of a gallon out of each tap. I bottled 26 pints and pulled my taps 3 days ago very dissapointed with this year. my evaporater that I built worked great and evaporated about 12 gallons an hour. I have a video of it early in the season on my page. Hope your season was much better.

  • Awsome operation very nice!!!!!!!!

  • We have almost the same exact evaporator. Grimm 2x6? raised flue. How fast does yours evaporate per hour? And do you have a preheater and how much do you make a year?
