Wow this brings back memories i use to drive an old B81 model mack without power steering and with the Quad box i was just a kid driving a 10 wheel dump truck thinking i was bad ass. it was fun for a year or so then i got to the point were i hated the smell of diesel fuel.and 30 years later i buy a diesel f350 go figure

what do you call the shift knobs and where can you get them???

thats the way shorty is
he put the brake light switch on the shifter so,s,the can use the brakes without a cop seein his brake lights come on.ie brakin it down when he thinks a cop is trying to catch him speedin

@daexpediter that has nothing to do with anything-the truck will barely do 50 mph- I had to put the brake lights on a separate switch because they're LED's and have to be hooked up backwards because this truck is positive ground. If I had turn signals and marker lights I had no brake lights, and vice-versa. This truck is only driven about 50 to 75 miles a year to a couple of parades. You have no reason to say why someone else does something when you know absolutely nothing about it.

You only shift the main 2 times? Thats not a standard H pattern is it? It looks different. just trying to figure it out in case I ever have to drive one.

it's a standard 5 speed pattern in the main. you shift the compound twice in the first 4 in the main-under,direct,over.the last shift is from 4th to 5th in the main.
the main is overdrive in 5th. gear so if you went to 5th. in the main and back to underdrive or direct in the compound you'd actually be downshifting.

@otherdog59 the toggle switch is on the compound ,closest to you.i'm going from lo split to direct to hi split (towards the dash). then you go to the next higher gear in the main and start over in the compound, until you get to 4th. hi, then you just go to 5th. hi in the main.

Whats the button on the side of the main stick that looks like a high low range selector?
lovetrain442 2 years ago
just a spring loaded toggle switch I added to work the brake lights
