@TexasCoffee none, Pyrex is designed to stand drastic temperature changes. I have the same equipment, never shattered a single pot... and i put the towel under the pot.. seriously.. just stick to gas station coffee.. so negative w/ ur comments...

@DreamSeekerOne not better, just depends on your taste buds... it's all about quality of coffee and doing it right...

Borosilicate glass (Pyrex) is designed not to shatter when the temperature changes suddenly.

I wonder how many pots he's had shatter while applying the wet towel?
DON'T DO WHAT THIS FOOL DOES!

It's because the heat lamp is orange. It's ironic that you think the coffee looks burnt because siphon coffee comes out cleaner than a French press and it doesn't have the Starbuck's burnt taste. Quite the opposite of how you perceive it.

the coffee looks so burned

That guy looks like he hates his life.

what kind of heat source is that?

Do they make coffee to order? like a la carte?
This was discovered, accidentally, by early alchemists in an effort to transmute coffee into gold. While failing metallurgically it succeeded percolatorically, much to the enjoyment of future generations of caffeine connoisseurs.( Ok, none of that is true, and I am certain there are some English majors out there clawing their eyes out over some of the spelling. Sorry about that.)

I owned a Bodum Santos electric and it made good coffee. Siphons are great to watch.
