8 consonants and 3 vowels, and the guy is probably happier than chaucer!

Wow, this language sounds like nothing I've ever heard.

Brazil will be under the same pressure, as the United States (Oklahoma, Pacific Northwest, Inland Northwest), Australia (northern), Russia (Siberia), because these areas are designated under UNESCO as hotspots for loss of linguistic diversity. Peru passed a law last year, that all government documents are to be printed in the country's 80 indigenous languages. Australia is handicapped, because education is done strictly on a state level. So something federal will be Brazil's answer.

I also spotted Portuguese, "flechal", "nome" (name), "conhece" (he/she/it knows) and a lot of "agora" (now). :V

yes. sure. I didn't mean to say something special or new... I was just speaking about a few portuguese words I spotted. Anyway, I'm not sure those portuguese words can be defined "loanwords". Probably they are not in the Piraha vocabulary. Maybe he just used some words of his second native language when he got to a point where "pure" Piraha wasn't effective in expressing some concept. Not everyone is versed in linguistics as you probably are. I am and maybe for some yt user that was interesting

Tim pls. I have never said that North and Northeast are complete lack of civilization or Indian style. Just that their life is most often more precarious than here, and it is a fact.

"Outside metropolitan areas". Most Amerindians live close to Rio Branco or Boa Vista, but actually those places are not accessible because they are upriver. Manaus is downriver, but for a travel many modern era resources are necessary, they won't go there with canoes. So, yeah, they won't go to stores or banks.

I have been to the Amazon, and they all are not naked and living in longhouses together hunting anaconda for dinner. Manaus is a city of 2 million people, with a European-style opera house. I have also worked with the Living Tongues Institute and Enduring Voices with National Geographic, and pressure is very much placed on Russia, to preserve their indigenous Siberian languages. So this is a top priority for the United Nations and UNESCO.
