This is the first clock I built. It's been running for about 2 years now. I've recently added the hourly strike. Plans for Simplicity and other clocks are available at http://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/Claytonsite1.htm

Enjoy!

  • Beautiful build. Been thinking about building a clock myself, but I'm sure it will be a lot of work.

  • @jscook55 Thanks for the comment! It seems like a towering challenge but, if you got the tools, you can knock it out faster than you think. I think I put about 30 to 40 hours into this one. Clayton's instructions are very helpful as well, and if you get stuck, there's always help available.

  • @CatfishAlan Hmm, yeah, he's got some interesting plans. So do you have a CNC router, or just manual tools? I'm thinking I may design my own if I do it. The mechanical challenge is the interesting thing to me. Much respect for your craftsmanship though!

  • @jscook55 no CNC, just a scroll saw, drill press, and a vertical sander. I'd love to design my own from scratch one day. You should go for it. I'd love to see what that CNC router can do!

  • Great job on Your build, The Roman numerials sets the dial ring off nicely, the hour strike is a good addition to this clock, also, enjoyed the video,Tim

  • @61066clocks Thanks for the feedback Tim, I appreciate it! I also enjoy your videos. You workmanship is second to none! -Alan

  • Should the escapement have more lock and drop, or is it designed as a recoil escapement. I have been thinking about building the Simplicity clock, and was wondering if there are any modifications that you would consider if you had to do it over again.

  • BTW, if you are interested in CNC routers, you should check out some of my videos or my site - jcopro.net. I've got quite a bit about my experiences building one from a kit.

  • @CatfishAlan Yeah, I'm just getting the hang of mine, but it's pretty nice! Quite a bit to learn/set up though. You weren't kidding, that guy does have quite a collection of clock plans (now that I've looked at it more thoroughly)!

  • Wery nice work
