Should the escapement have more lock and drop, or is it designed as a recoil escapement. I have been thinking about building the Simplicity clock, and was wondering if there are any modifications that you would consider if you had to do it over again.

BTW, if you are interested in CNC routers, you should check out some of my videos or my site - jcopro.net. I've got quite a bit about my experiences building one from a kit.

@CatfishAlan Yeah, I'm just getting the hang of mine, but it's pretty nice! Quite a bit to learn/set up though. You weren't kidding, that guy does have quite a collection of clock plans (now that I've looked at it more thoroughly)!

@jscook55 Thanks for the comment! It seems like a towering challenge but, if you got the tools, you can knock it out faster than you think. I think I put about 30 to 40 hours into this one. Clayton's instructions are very helpful as well, and if you get stuck, there's always help available.

@CatfishAlan Hmm, yeah, he's got some interesting plans. So do you have a CNC router, or just manual tools? I'm thinking I may design my own if I do it. The mechanical challenge is the interesting thing to me. Much respect for your craftsmanship though!

@jscook55 no CNC, just a scroll saw, drill press, and a vertical sander. I'd love to design my own from scratch one day. You should go for it. I'd love to see what that CNC router can do!

Great job on Your build, The Roman numerials sets the dial ring off nicely, the hour strike is a good addition to this clock,also,enjoyed the video,Tim
