毅然捨去個人的安逸生活, 投入佛門
she left a cozy life to become a Buddhist nun
皈依一代佛學宗師印順法師座下
and disciple of Dharma Master Yin Shun, vowing
領受 "為佛教為眾生"的誓願
"all for Buddhism; all for the living beings"
經過研讀禮拜法華經
By studying and worshiping the Lotus Sutra
領悟到由一粒種子能生百千萬的道理
she realized a seed could produce infinite seeds
帶領著6位出家弟子和30位家庭主婦




She led 6 disciples and 30 housewives
成立了佛教慈濟克難功德會
and set up Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Association
用每天每個人節省下的5毛買菜錢開始慈善濟貧的工作
Each of them saved NTD0.5 per day as charity fund
40多年後這由三十七個人開始萌芽的佛教團體
45 years later the group with 37 initial members
已經成長為援助足跡遍及全球71個國家
has extended relief to 70 countries worldwide
並且在50個國家有據點
with offices in 50 countries
會員超過500萬人
and more than 5 million members
被聯合國正式認可的國際性慈善公益團體
now a charitable NGO recognized by the UN
