Asa and the rest of the Buchanans were brought to OLTL after the Texas craze hit the country because of the popularity of the tv show Dallas. Asa was supposed to be an evil old bastard,an oil soaked charmer in the tradition of J.R. Ewing. The Buchanans hit that tv community like a texas bread tornado and Asa was a whole lot of fun. You can tell ,too, that Phil Carey loved playing him.

@bawoman turns out Todd is really Victor Lord JR, now it makes sense why he had no feelings for Asa. Plus Victor Jr. will be dead himself next week.

@flashdancebabe Phil Carey's health was declining and all decided it would be better to go out while still in good health. He passed in real life shortly afterwards. Yesterday there was an anniversary tribute to the legend. Also recommend seeing his performance in Calamity Jane with Doris Day
