Burning petroleum jelly

it IS flammable. You broke the fire tetrahedron. Not enough air between the jelly particles.

Try setting fire to candle wax or lamp oil like this and and nothing will happen either.
To burn under normal atmospheric conditions, these heavy hydrocarbons need the aid of a wick of some kind to make contact with the oxigen in the air.
Put a little bit on the cotton swab and then light it !

I've made torches form petroleum jelly. They work quite well.

Thanks for the effort.

This isn't very smart. I use vaseline to start fires all the time. You can't burn fuels that don't have vapor without a wick, because there isn't enough air.

I really like your video, your quite an intelligent guy

2:07 to actually watch the lighting

put the vaseline on some toilet tissue in very thin coats. it will burn...very slowly, it really is a good burner :)
-
If you mix vaseline with gasoline it's highly flammable. It's basically Napalm.

if i put petroleum jelly all around my rubiks cube...
will it burn wildly? i mean like flames everywhere.
also, will it burn my hand?

i didn't know candle wax was a petroleum biproduct, thanks for the info.
Good point! I will have to heat it up a little bit more.

Hey rocket scientist.....You have to get it to reach a certain temp. before it'll ignite. He didn't prove anything.
