Cheetah Rock: Sneak Behind the Scenes

Malcolm Fitzpatrick, Curator of Mammals at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo takes us for a behind the scenes look at Cheetah Rock, the Zoo's new fantastic flagship exhibit for the world's fastest land mammal.

Malcolm explains how we will be providing home to 10 cheetahs, some of which will be housed in the offshow breeding area.

Hi tigerlemurguy - thanks for your comment! We should make it clear so as not to disappoint, that we'll not have all 10 on show at any one point as the 6 rarest will at first be in the offshow breeding area. It's still amazing though!

when i went, that aint where they were staying, they were in a cramped little space with a hill && a few bushes && that is it!!

We can't wait to see the new exhibit when we visit from the US next time, we saw the signs for it last summer when we were at the zoo. I worked with the cheetahs there briefly over 20 years ago (Graham was head keeper), I worked for the most part on the old bear section with Pete Williams etc. Hello to all who are still there ! thats fine, im not able to go this year as its quite a drive from where i live, i still think its great what you are doing
