THE TAMLINS, consisting of Carlton Smith, Derrick Lara and Junior Moore, started out as a nightclub act in 1970 and by 1972 had won the "Most Outstanding Group" award in Jamaica.

Baltimore held the NO.1 spot in Jamaica for twelve weeks. Indisputably, it was judged the "Number One Record of the Year" in Jamaica on JBC's "Top 100" for 1980.

The group also won the "Best Group Award" from JBC, Radio Jamaica and the Daily News that same year.

  • I was singing "Born to roam aint it hard just to live " to this tune for so so many years. It was only after researchingTony Reble's Fire. that i found out.

  • @MrYes2day looool. yes we've all had our own personal versions of lyrics. Just like African Brothers Torturing, for years I thought it was stuttering!

  • Saw the Tamlins live in Oceans Nightclub,(North London) a couple of years ago now. When they sang this live I could have cried this song came about when I had just started secondary school and I heard it at our school disco (as it was back in the day) brought back memories. Bad rhythm tune. When I got home I had to go and root in my brothers's record boxes of course with their permission. Lucky they had a copy as I heard it was hard to get after a time. Courtney's version wicked!

  • Yep, Oceans in Hackney. Another venue down the drain! Love the Tamlins.

  • I use to listen to this song as a child (in Jamaica) and wonder what Baltimore was like. Now i'm stationed 30 minutes away.

  • And did it meet your expectations?
