HERE IN THIS HOME
I have become this—
A graying balding piece of bird.
Refrigerated
in a nurising home.
They have taken me,
and I have become like them:
Useless.
Lazy. Couchlike in my laziness.
Men my age in Japan
pick tea leaves, and make their own tea
for their own enjoyment.
I am encouraged
to sit and to rot, and to play poker
with the other turkeys,
(Samuel Douglas Kendall)
thanks for promoting another poet to try out :)

Excellent piece David, superbly delivered as always.
Paints a sad, but all to often true picture of what getting old has to offer.

The delivery of this sells the piece, David.

Strong stuff, deftly conveyed. Impact poetry that deserves an audience.

Great poem. I can really relate. Love your background but feel your two friends could use some food right now. (Anorexic looking two!) Shall check Samuel Doglas Kendall's site. Thanks.

Kendall...a brilliant poet. Thanks for linking me up. Talented ... truly. Thanks for your incredibly gifted recitation. Narative 'expression' would be a better word. Words fail.
