3. A symbol can mean different things to different people.

4. A symbol can be decoded with the correct information, education and preparation.

I dont have a clue but if I was to guess I would think it would have something to do with empowering the individual who bears it. For example He-man gains strength, the templars used it as an intimidation tactic, Triple H seems to be wearing it for the same reasons with the skull in the middle, the red cross uses it to traverse the battlefield untouched (fortunately nobody is co-signing and shooting at them anyway) We all know there is power in symbols.
