Carraciola was the rain master, his last GP victory, if the 1.5 liter formula had not been interupted by the war, the 1.5 Auto Unions would have come into the own in 1940, much more nimble than the front engine Mercedes!

Rudi gave Indy a shot in the late '40s and had an awful crash testing a car there. He was layed up for several months.

Neither seat belts, nor head rests nor air bags and no servo-steering, these racing cars had. I ask me whether the new F.1 champion Sebastian Vettel would have the balls to drive a Mercedes Grand Prix car as Carraciola and Nuvolari did.

Shame they don't show historical racing footage like this on Speed anymore... they just cater to morons now.
