Maria Kitkarska: Canada's rising star in rhythmic gymnastics

If the year ahead is anything like the 2009-2010 season drawing to a close, Maria Kitkarska will have even more to smile about as one of Canada's rising stars in rhythmic gymnastics.

Maria, who trains under the guidance of coach Lidia Joukova at the Questo club in Montreal, has made progress across the board, winning her first Canadian junior title, capturing the all around bronze at the Pan American championships in Cuba, and placing 11th all around at the first-ever Youth Olympic Games last August in Singapore.

The next big event for Maria takes place in Montreal in January when she will go up against some of the top young rhythmic gymnasts in the world at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau.

She is amazing! Great attitude, dedicated, and she wants to do it. She isn't forced to do RG, and she's not on drugs and doesn't have an eating disorder like some of the european girls seem to.
