This trail is very unique and beautiful. This is an easy, quick and close trail. The trail is great for people who are visiting Whistler for the first time. It is also a great trail to bring kids on. The trail follows the Checamus River off the end of Function Junction. The river is very deep and powerful; it carves its way into the rocky landscape. The trail is not to well maintained, but if the trail is too bushy there is always the train track to follow.
The wreck itself is very beautiful. I am not sure how long ago it happened but it is rusting and being pulled back by nature. It is defiantly fun to bring the bike because someone has constructed a 10-foot gap from the top of a boxcar to a small ramp wedged between a couple trees.
Directions:
Go to the southern point of Function Junction: where the highway curves off away from Whistler. Follow the train tracks for about 10 minutes on foot. And slip into a little trail on the left side of the tracks. The trail runs parallel with the train tracks and the Checkamus River until the wreck.
