After this night, David quit singing Permanent on his tour. He sang it on the American Idol finale and singles were available to buy for a limited amount of time with all proceeds going to cancer.

Hey Kevin, can't say I check into this account too much, so apologies for the late reply... but if you think I was being anything less than respectful, then, frankly, that's more of a statement about your state of mind than it is mine.
"What the hell did you think I was talking about?" is far more of an interesting question...
I'll leave it there.

I'm not the only one who thought you were being disrespectful, judging from the rating of your comment as a -7. And i don't know how else we can read things like "he needs to sort himself out" and "the things this man does to himself." Adding a "Love you, David" to the end doesn't ameliorate saying some seemingly callous things earlier in the post.

Certainly people agreed with you, Kevin.
No doubt the same people who wrote, "Poor Baby, I'll pray for you," but I've always felt that true support goes deeper than facile banality.
I care about DC a lot and I wasn't being callous, I was being practical.
The man has a job to do and he had to pull himself together before he made himself ill.
If I recall rightly, he cancelled a couple of dates and did just that.
Very sensible. Good job, David.

I have always viewed the comment section of YT videos as a place for people to vent their own feelings that are aroused by a particular video. Yours struck me as a callous response, given that DC won't be reading these comments, most likely. It clearly wasn't intended to be, but I'd think you might want to consider how your comments might be PERCEIVED going forward, that's all.

I don't understand your saying "it wasn't his brother". David and Adam have the same father. He canceled 2 shows shortly after this and it appears that was when he said his goodbye to Adam.

This song was written for David's brother, Adam Cook. Adam died late Saturday night, May 2, 2009, after a long battle with brain cancer.

Our sympathies to David Cook and his family in the passing of his brother.
