A lot of people on Tumblr were doing this and it was pretty interesting so I thought I'd do it too. :)

Words to Read:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theatre, Iro, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan Both Again, Probably, Spitting Image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught.

Questions:

What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

Hope you enjoy!

  • I'm from AR too! I used to call all soda "coke" when I was younger, but then at some point I guess it finally hit me how confusing that was, and I switched to "soda." We differed on gym shoes (I say "tennis shoes") and the carts in the store I used to call "buggies," but now just say "shopping cart," but that might be due to the fact that I moved to the north and have slowly changed a lot of the things I say. I'm from Central Arkansas (Hot Springs) and I'm curious about what part you're from.

  • @KelsCFox Hello! I am originally from Russellville but I now live up in the Jonesboro area. :)

  • @okie294life I've lived in Central Arkansas my whole life but I have traveled a lot so maybe I have a little bit Midwest mixed in. :)

@cadyXcatastrophy67 I get that allll the time! "You look just like that girl from Parent Trap before she got on drugs!!!" Lol Never gets old.

  • hey thanks this is perfect! im playing a character from arkansas in my next film

  • @jhcorporation wow thats awesome! if you have any specific questions about dialect and southern mannerisms don't hesitate to message me :)

  • I live in California but my best friend is from Arkansas (he lives here now though). I might see if he pronounces certain things similar to the way you did. I enjoyed your video. :]

  • @ExtraChapstick thank you for watching! even in arkansas there are many different ... eh semi-dialects? lol but i'm pretty sure the coke thing is all the south. (pretty much anyway) :)

  • THANK YOU!!! People don't understand us when we say "I want a coke" it doesn't mean that we actually want a Coke.

  • Name dropping...

  • You look like Lindsay Lohan.

  • You sound like almost midwest accent, not a southern arkansas accent.

  • I'm from Mt. Home but live in Indiana. I speak alot like you do :)

  • @ryleeskye yeah im sure i'll have a bunch of words once i'm finished writing the script. the theater pronunciation helped already. im basing the character off lonesome rhodes from a face in the crowd played by andy griffith. i'll let you know the words im unsure of

  • @ryleeskye Sorry it took so long to respond. I'll probably show him the list and see how/what he says. :]
