CIVET('Civet Cat') OUTSIDE MY ROOM -Part 2

CIVET RAIDING LEFTOVERS FROM MY DINNER!Was staying at Camp Corbett,Kaladhungi,close to Corbett Park,India(blazeatrailadventures.com)and managed to get these shots(and more)by setting up Camcorder on tripod outside my room, then waiting for the 'noise' of Civet arriving.It was late at night but had lamp on outside by table and gap in curtains so could see LCD screen on Camcorder.Then using remote could trigger the Video Camera and see what I was filming by watching the LCD screen(just visible).This is more video from prevoius clip

i found this animal yesterday behind my house, its really looks like!!

what should i do?? is it danger??

They are shy, mainly nocturnal animals which try to avoid humans and are not usually aggressive unless, like all animals, threatened. You are lucky to be able to see one !

pwew... no wonder that civet cat differs from country to country i have hir young adult asian palm civet cat, i saved her frm hunters whom suppose to make her as an exotic fud but apparently she was supposed to be tamed but due to the wound she gets from the hunter's trap she have a wound on her back, wat shud i do?bring her to vet?is it ok dat i bring her to vet ?

Sounds the best idea or take her to nearest Wildlife organisation for advice, or ring them.

To be precise, if you are taxonomically inclined, the civet is a viverrid: a feliform carnivore with with retractible claws and a baculum (look that one up, I had too). Other viverrids include the binturong, genet and linsang.

They alwas trouble to my house. Come in early morning about 5am and going again 7-8 pm. When they leaving pissing and comes thruogh upstairs to down. Twice my TV birn.

They certainly can, When I was a kid living in Sierra Leone we had a rescued one that lived in the house like a house cat. Its most amazing habit was that it used to use the toilet ! by balancing on the rim and going into the water. Apparently this is because in the wild they try to poo in water to cover their scent from preadators. Amazing creature and very affectionate apart frrom nipping my dads feet.

thousands of these were slaughtered in Asia because they were erroneously thought to have been the host carrier of SARS. It was later determined that it was a different animal host. They are interesting-- I wonder if one could ever be domesticated.

They also scape the musk glands of the animal to collect civet musk, a very common and classic perfume ingredient. Although it does hurt the animal somewhat. Most perfumes use synthetic civet musk nowadays.

Its not from 'Cat'family.This Civet would eat meat leftovers,bread etc but ignored a banana.However the Indonesian Civets love ripe bananas but also meat and will kill and eat chickens etc if they get they chance!See other 'Bali Civet Video'.

Sort of half cat halt racoon... It's so long.. It doesn't look like a cat-like ultra-hunter... Is it an omnivore??
